Spend 6 weeks exploring the hidden gems and personalities of the epics of the Yoga tradition, learning how to weave these powerful anecdotes and characters into our lives, businesses and offerings.
Yoga is overflowing with so many transformative stories.
Hanuman leaping to save the Princess.
Arjuna getting a battle-ground pep talk.
A band of brothers losing their kingdom over a game of dice.
A lonely mother who created her own son… only to have him beheaded by her husband.
These are the well known, well-loved stories. The ones people are already weaving into their classes and workshops. The stories that inspire the statues on our altars. Maybe even the Yoga clothing you wear. The jewellery you buy.
But there are SO many others, and each of them has a potency that we can unpick, lay out and learn from.
Together we’ll meet some of the lesser-known heroes and champions, bad guys and villains and discover what they have to teach us, on AND off the mat.
Spend six weeks with me exploring the lesser known stories Yoga has to offer.
For years now I’ve been asked how I know so many Yoga stories, where I learn them all from, how I blend them into my classes, podcasts, emails and retreats.
I’ve also heard from teachers throughout this community that apparently my own story telling has a certain ‘thing’ about it!
So… it’s about time we all got together and celebrated all things Yoga and Story!
At this stage I’m proud to admit I’m a #YogaNerd. I like it. And, man, have I earned it!
I’ve also seen how powerful story telling is as a teaching tool. Archetypes are incredibly compelling, helping us and our students to explore the inner landscape as well as our relationships with others.
But the teachings of Yoga can be tricky territory without a guide.
That’s where I come in!
In Yoga and Story you’ll learn:
Some of my favourite Yoga stories and how to share them with your own voice and emphasis.
How to blend stories into your workshops and classes, giving your offerings some extra spice.
How to overlay Yoga philosophy to many of the teachings, bringing together much of what you’ve probably studied but may not yet have found relatable or relevant.
How to use the teachings of these powerful stories for your own reflection and contemplation practice, truly taking Yoga off the mat and into your life.
Essentially, its going to be 6 weeks of stories and Yoga Nerdy goodness!
Stories have an incredible way to build connections, celebrate our commonality, enjoy the similarities we all share as we move through life.
Each week of this course I’ll tell you a story.
The juicy.
The sad.
The inspiring.
The grotesque.
And all relatable.
As a professional story teller of some time, I’ll also model how to customise stories to really suit your community.
Stories that are representative of who we are. Of our goals. Our challenges.
The underdog. The survivor.
Stories for all bodies, abilities, genders, ages.
Stories that build inclusion, not exclusion.
Each week we will also dive into substantive conversation. The program is about learning together in Satsang.
As our story completes, we will explore how the teachings, insights and underlying themes of each story can be applied to:
These conversations will be supported by my coaching and mentoring so you feel supported to fully explore what each of the teachings means for you, and how the new information and awareness can be woven into your life and business.
Class starts August 12 and completes September 30.
Classes will be at 7am - 9am Thursdays (Melbourne/Sydney time)
(Please note, depending on where you live, this may mean WEDNESDAYS for you. Please check your own timezone)
All of our classes will be held on Zoom.
Between classes you can share insights, applications and ideas in our special ‘Yoga and Story’ FB Group!
Each story and class will be recorded for you, so if you can’t join us live each time you’ll be able to stream the replays when it suits you. You’ll also have an additional month of access to the FB group to rewatch any of the classes!
